Course Description

Chemistry 0350 is the sequel to Chemistry 0330. The course focuses on the constitution and properties of the different classes of organic compounds, with considerable attention to reaction mechanisms and synthesis. The laboratory work involves an introduction to microscale preparative and analytical techniques of organic chemistry and the preparation of representative organic compounds. The course involves three hours of lecture and five hours of combined prelaboratory and laboratory per week.

5/2/08 Exam 3 is now available for pickup.  Average = 40/100. Standard Deviation = 19.

They will be available for pick-up:

Friday May 2nd 1:30 - 4 PM and Monday-Wednesday (May 5-7) 10:30 AM - Noon and 1:30 - 3:00 PM.
5/1/08 Exam 3 and the Exam 3 Answer Key are now available on the Exams page.
4/24/08 Final Exam Grading Policy: There will be an automatic way to obtain
an A in the course. Any final exam with 85% correct (170 points)
awards the student an automatic A for the course, notwithstanding the
hour exam performances.
4/24/08 Professor Seto's review session on Tuesday afternoon (April 29th) is
being changed to Noon-2 PM in Metcalf Auditorium.
4/24/08 The review session on Sunday evening (April 27th) 7-9 PM is being
relocated to Metcalf Auditorium. The door nearest to the auditorium
off of Thayer street should be open.
4/14/08 The answer key for Exam 2 is now available on the Exams page.
4/14/08 There will not be a review session on Tuesday, April 15.

Exam 1 is now available for pickup.  Average = 69/100. Standard Deviation = 19.

Exams may be picked up from Amanda Figgins in Geochem 439.
They will be available for pick-up during the hours of 10:30 AM - Noon and 1:30 - 3:00 PM on Monday March 3, Tuesday March 4, and Wednesday March 5.
You must pick-up your exam in person. You cannot have a friend do it for you.

2/28/08 Here is the Exam 1 Answer Key.
2/25/08 Additional help sessions are being offered every Monday and Tuesday from 7-9 pm in Wilson 103 (Monday nights) and Wilson 104 (Tuesday nights). These sessions are being run by two undergraduates--Daniel Woolridge and Ben Abiri.
2/20/08 A copy of the course text book and the solutions manual have been
placed on 3 hour reserve in the SciLi.
2/06/08 Weekly group tutoring sessions will be run by Ben Lowell on Thursday evenings 7-9 PM in Smith-Buonnano G01. During these sessions Ben will go over homework problems, review lecture material, and answer any other questions about the course.
1/30/08 Evening problem sessions will be presented by Andrew Anzalone on Sunday Evenings 7-9 PM in MacMillan 115. These Sunday sessions will begin on February 10th.

We are posting old hourly exams from the previous two years of the
course. These will give you a better idea of what to expect on exams
this semester, and provide you with additional study questions. We
will not be posting answers to these exams.

Students may attend either, both or neither lecture. The two sections will have common exams, held in two hour blocks from 7 - 9 PM, three times during the semester.  If either section is overcrowded, the University will limit entry to the classroom to comply with Fire Safety Regulations.

If you have an evening conflict with a course or University recognized activity, we will provide alternate exam times.
